Brewing Up Breakfast!

Posted by Karla Militello on

It's COLD out today...and since we are home for the day, we are trying out new recipes with TEA, so we came up with a delicious idea for you today!
Oatmeal sounds like a happy, keep-me-warm breakfast, and everyone in the house was on board, but why not shake things up?? Instead of using milk or water, let's brew TEA to cook our oatmeal with!

Searching through the cupboards, I came across our Winter Blend tea.

If you do not have our Winter Blend, try it. It is one of our signature blends at The Summer Kitchen and is full of flavor with Chocolate, Cherry, Mint, and Almonds....yum!!!

THIS will make the base of our oatmeal this morning!

This is my recipe for one serving:
1 cup liquid (I usually do 1/2 cup milk or almond milk and 1/2 cup water, but you can do all water or all milk if you'd like)
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup fruit (I used a mixture of apples and dried cherries for this recipe - use what you have in your pantry!!)
Then, I used 1 Tablespoon of our Winter Blend loose-leaf tea.

First, let's brew our tea! Take your liquid and heat it to just boiling; take off the heat, and then add your tea. Put the tea into a bag or throw it into the pan and strain out after 5 minutes!

Then add the oatmeal and the fruits.

Bring the oatmeal back on the heat and bring it to a boil, then simmer for 3-5 minutes until the oats are done.
Put into your bowl, top with sliced almonds,
and drizzle a little bit of honey on top if you wish
and enjoy!

You will become a fan at first bite! The oatmeal absorbs ALL of the flavor from the tea, and everyone was amazed how you could pick up the cherry, mint, and especially CHOCOLATE from the tea.

See what tea you have in your cupboard today; you'll LOVE to BREW your Breakfast this week!!!
